Is it possible to make money online? Many people ask themselves this question, and sometimes they do not get good responses to the questions. One day my colleague asked me that same question. Before I answered the question, she asked me another one, How much money do you make online in a month?

 Well, most people don’t believe one can make money online. Probably they know little about online business. But what I have discovered is that people fear venturing into online marketing for various reasons. They include, among others, fear of the unknown, being doubtful about success, loss of money, a negative attitude and a weak mentality about internet business. Fear is a significant hindrance to success in business and prevents most people from venturing into business.

Back to the question, I would like to assert through this article that the internet provides countless opportunities for us to make money online. Some people depend entirely on income raised from online businesses. Each day, people come up with new ways of making money online, and their imagination is the only limiting factor.

My Personal Experience

I was inspired to venture into an online business by my strong desire to establish online my traditional business. The burning desire I had enabled me to learn web designing, even if it was extremely hard at the start and consumed a lot of my valuable time. But with persistence and the strong desire to achieve my goals, I had to learn so fast and eventually developed my website. Nobody instructed me. I only bought books and taught myself.

Learning web designing opened my doors to online marketing because I realised that I could not make money online with my small business unless I learnt online marketing techniques. Marketing is what one has to do after setting up a business.

I embarked on a vigorous marketing campaign to drive targeted traffic to my website through article writing, forum marketing, social networking, etc. I started realising a growing number of visitors to my site, but I was not making money online yet.

 Lessons Learnt

Later, I noticed that I had to do something to convert my website visitors into buyers. But the product I had, self-inking stamps, could only be bought by people living in my home country. The lesson I learned from it is that to make money online, you must have the right products or services that solve the problems of your targeted customers.

Yes, people liked my stamps in schools, organisations, hospitals, institutions and private businesses. The internet made it possible for some potential customers to know more about the product and make orders online. To me, that was a significant achievement.

As I went ahead with my business, I noticed that making money online meant diversifying my sources of income. Since I already had a website, I thought of having other products to promote it. And the second lesson I learned was that selling your product together with other affiliate products was more profitable than selling only one product.

The third lesson I learned was that making money online requires persistence, innovativeness and hard work. Maybe this is where most people find themselves lacking. And it’s a reason to become doubtful about their success in online business. You have to market your business persistently and never give up. You have to be creative enough to develop various effective ways of selling online.

I, therefore, thought of offering other services alongside the stamps and affiliate products. Since I already knew web designing, I decided to provide marketing services, web designing and development services on my site.

Conclusion

The above testimony is just a real example of how you can start and grow your online business. I started slowly, and I have reached a point of no return. Each day is a day of new possibilities, and each month is a month of continued growth. Each year is a year of significant difference in my online business life.
