Goleza Designers does not stop at only doing business, but we also educate others. We inform our customers about our products and services. We also give free, educative information related to our work so that other people can also benefit. It’s why we have this time come up with this post on designing fonts to help other makers of wedding invitation cards.
Understandably, fonts play an essential role when designing wedding invitations. How? They give the first impression that people judge the rest of your design. Your font choices set the tone of the whole design and influence the viewers’ feelings towards it. Secondly, they add elegance to your wedding invitations. The selection of your designing fonts should, therefore, be purposeful and appropriate so that they don’t clash but instead complement each other.
Before going into the tutorial, let’s first look at the different types of fonts to help you to make the right choice of the designing fonts to add to your designing program. Fonts are in the following categories:
- Serif fonts – these usually have small “feet” or lines attached to their letters
- Sans-serif fonts – this is the opposite of serif fonts. The word “sans” is a French word that means “without”. Sans-serif fonts, therefore, don’t have extra lines attached to their letters.
- Script fonts – these are handwriting-style fonts, which some people know as cursive fonts. They are suitable for wedding invitation cards.
- Decorative fonts – as the name suggests, these are decorated fonts to attract attention and should be used carefully.
To reinforce your understanding of the different font categories mentioned above, look at the illustration below.
Now that you understand the font categories, you can decide on the design fonts to add from the informed point of view. Let us now go straight away to the core of this article. And this is how to add designing fonts to your designing software for your wedding invitation card wording.
Where do you get these designing fonts?
That’s the #1 question you should ask yourself. There are many sites with free fonts that you can download to your computer. There are also sites offering paid fonts. But let us limit ourselves to free fonts to save our money for other business requirements. I have personally identified one great free font resource with thousands of fonts. Please use it to look for any font type you want. Visit the website below!
How do you add the designing fonts?
It’s quite simple. Just follow this useful guide to add free designing fonts for use on your wedding invitations and in your entire graphic designing work.
Step 1 – Download the designing fonts you want
After selecting the font type of your choice, download it. After downloading the font type, click on the arrow next to the downloaded file just at the bottom of your computer screen. Select from the menu “Show in the folder” and click on it. It will take you straight to the downloaded file under downloads on your computer.
Right-click on the downloaded file and in the menu that shows up select “Extract All…” In the window that shows up, click on the “Extract” button. The files for your designing fonts will open. Right-click on the font file, and then choose “Copy” to copy the data.
Step 2 – Installing the designing fonts on your computer
After copying the font file, it’s now the right time to install the font type on your computer so that you can use it in any design program you have.
Click the start button on your computer. Select “Computer” and click on it to be redirected to a window for the disk drives. Then double-click on the “C-Drive”, then “Windows” and then “Fonts” to go to the font area on your computer. Right-click in the space of the font area to paste the new designing fonts! That’s it. You’ve now installed the font(s) on your computer, ready for use in any designing program.
However, before you wind up, you will have to confirm that the designing fonts you have installed exist in your designing program. Open the designing program, type any word and look for your new font. Once you see it, then you can use it for your wedding cards.
