Your strengths should exceed your weaknesses to succeed in any business. But do you know them? Have you ever bothered to know who you are and what you have before beginning any business? If you are already in business, how are you progressing? Don’t you think it’s high time you carried out a self-evaluation to know your strengths and weaknesses better? The success of your business will depend primarily upon your strengths and behaviours.
I have noticed that most people find it easy to know about others. However, they do not bother to discover their behaviour. They instead feel more comfortable talking about their achievements and the behaviours of others. In reality, to succeed in your business, you need to know who you are in terms of your behaviours, strengths and weaknesses. In this article, I would like to share how you can develop your self-awareness to discover your strengths and weaknesses.
What Do Strength and Weakness Mean?
First of all, let me define your STRENGTH as a quality or ability you may be having that gives you an advantage in any given business. On the other hand, your WEAKNESS is a deficiency or failure in your character. The ability to identify your strengths and weaknesses helps you determine the kind of people you will work with to complement your behaviours, especially in the area of your weaknesses.
Illustratively, let me use the example of someone who becomes angry quickly and wants to start a restaurant. If this describes you, you might want to consider working with sweet-tempered people. In another example, if creativity is one of your strengths, it would be better to start businesses where you can apply your creativity. Take advantage of your strengths to grow your business. Seek help where you have weaknesses by learning, being coached, or hiring individuals to complement your strengths.
Additionally, knowledge of your strengths and weaknesses determines the training or coaching you need to grow your business. For instance, if you are involved in laser engraving, where you need a graphic design skill but cannot produce good graphics, you can consider acquiring this skill by learning. Being familiar with your strengths and weaknesses is very important for you in any business.
Equally important is knowledge about your behaviours because they play a fundamental role in running your business. They determine the destination of your business: success or failure. “A good person with a second-class idea is better than a good idea with a second-class person,” as the adage goes. Change your behaviour positively for the success of your business.

The best way of knowing your strengths and weaknesses is to carry out a self-assessment. Use the following guiding questions to help you!
